On 06-05-2008 I was visiting Ajad Island ( 22' 22' 49.96 N,,,, 69' 23' 20.95E) off the coast of Poshitra in Gulf of kutch Gujarat. And came across this seabird. Unfortunately It was sunset time and the bird was quite far..so not able to get decent shots. but still managed to grab some pictures. But I have decent observation through my spotting scope and identified the bird as a Juvenile Sooty Tern, Onychoprion fuscatus. Which is the first sighting for Gujarat. Identification is verified by senior ornithologist.
